About

The Johnston Lab is based in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Leeds, where we are part of the Neur@L neuroscience research community.

We are a friendly and collaborative group with a shared interest in understanding how neural circuits work. We value rigorous, curiosity-driven science and try to ask questions that get at general principles of how the brain computes and adapts to both the external and internal environments.

We are committed to open science. We develop and release tools for the neuroscience community, including OMMI (Optical MultiModal Imaging) and Olfactometry software, and make our code available via GitHub. We believe that sharing tools and data makes science faster and better for everyone.
